I Co-Host A Weekly Tech Podcast; Are You Subscribed?

October 14, 2010

The Drill Down - LogoAdmittedly, it’s been a while since I’ve updated anyone using my personal blog, but I have a very good reason: It’s far more enjoyable to write for someone else’s website.

So, that’s basically what I’ve been doing. The most prominent of these sites continues to be Geeks of Doom (who recently christened me as an associate news editor) followed by my contributions to the official site of The Drill Down weekly podcast I co-host.

Yes, I do a weekly podcast about technology, gadgetry and social web that has a pretty decent following. My co-hosts Muhammad Saleem, JD Rucker and Andrew Sorcini asked me to join the show in June. They are are among the most intelligent, talented and active minds I’ve ever encountered, which makes me look forward to chatting with them every week.

If this is news to you, I would highly recommend subscribing to our RSS feed to listen on the web, via iTunes or catch us live every Wednesday at 8:30 p.m. CST via USTREAM.

Guest Post On The Drill Down – ‘CrunchWag’

April 17, 2009

Below is the guest post I wrote for The Drill Down about the recent similarities between TechCrunch and Valleywag, two web sites that report about technology news primarily on the west coast.  If you didn’t get a chance to check it out last week, head on over to the site and give their podcast a listen while your there…

dfqp3t48_46gpknstdm_bMonths ago Muhammad Saleem pointed out that TechCrunch’s redesign bears a shocking resemblance to the Gawker Media site templates. I thought it was interesting but didn’t give it much thought until this week.

Seriously, has anyone noticed the first signs of a mini Valleywag reunion over at TechCrunch?

The Drill Up: Guest Hosts on Impromptu The Drill Down Podcast

February 4, 2009

0204-drilldownAnyone interested in where I look for the best content about technology news may be surprised when I don’t start immediately listing Web sites I frequent. Since it’s so easy to post newsworthy information on a news blog, I’m hesitant to trust more than five or six different sites. Instead I look to Andrew Sorcini, Muhammad Saleem and Reg Saddler, better known as MrBabyMan, Msaleem and Zaibatsu from the world of social media.

Along with Lidija Davis, they do a podcast called The Drill Down to highlight the week’s biggest tech news. Typically they live stream the show on Ustream.tv, which allows for other social media geeks like myself to participate via chat room function. It’s not uncommon for them to have guests on, and this past week they did an impromptu The Drill Up version comprised of people who watch the show regularly. (The actual podcast was delayed until the following day.) Read the rest of this entry »
